Centre for simulation and training
Training more confident and expert medical workers using simulation technologies.
We founded EmacCampus to help those who work in the health sector to improve their knowledge of clinical practice and their ability to make decisions under pressure, when every second is precious and minor delays might put human lives in danger.
Resources are scarce and an increasing demand in the health sector means that health workers are often forced to run under strong pressure to ensure a growing number of assignments and tasks; under these conditions inaccuracy and confusion might follow, and we want to reduce the risk of making mistakes. We are very conscious that the staff's adequate education and qualification is always an important reason for success in any kind of enterprise, but also that success in the health sector is translated in terms of Global Health.
Our goal is to use simulations to train medical staff to be more confident and better prepared in order to better create and maintain health and wealth for people.

SIMULATION
Simulation plays an important role in teaching and training for clinical practiceMedical education through simulation technology helps individual workers (doctors, nurses, technicians, pharmacists and so on) to develop proper practical skills and teamwork, improving their efficiency and confidence.
Our training is specifically addressed to workers in these areas:
- Anaesthesia
- Intensive Therapy
- Emergency Medicine
- Nephrology and Dialysis
- Cardiology
- General Surgery
- Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology
- Paediatrics and Neonatology
- Obstetrics and Gynecology
Educational and training courses at EmacCampus include the following simulation technologies:
- Latest generation SimMan 3G wireless, which allows for the staging of multiple complex clinical scenario with features such as: adjustable structure of the upper respiratory tract; heart, lungs and intestine sounds; ventilated lungs; automated reactions and responses; creation of response curves in reaction to drugs and medication.
- Two advanced simulators for training in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
- Simulator for nursing practices of evaluating and assisting the patient.
- Air-way management trailer advanced simulator.
- Simulator for the ultrasonographically guided insertion of central venous catheters: subclavian, supra-clavicular, jugular and femoral.
- Simulator for developing general basic surgery skills.
- Surgical trainer for video laparoscopy.
- Surgical simulator for cholecystic operation.
- Advanced surgical simulator for laparoctomic operation.
- Surgical simulator TraumaMan for training incisions and sutures: thoracic drainage insertion, pericardium centesis, thoracic decompression, percutaneous tracheotomy, peritoneal lavage.
- Ultrasound simulator for ultrasonographically guided techniques of intravenous access
- Possibility of using other different advanced simulators for maternal/child environments.
THE COMPLEX
Training more expert and confident medical workers using simulation.
EMAC CAMPUS, is a Centre for Advanced Education working in agreement with University of Genova and University of Pisa to supply training with microsimulation and macrosimulation, telemedicine and distance learning
The concept behind EmacCampus is to provide education for medical students and health workers using revolutionary a technique: multi-technological simulation.
The complex offers a wide range of facilities:
- Operating theatremounted with last generation simulators, medical devices to keep the experience realistic and cameras to record any activity or training.
- Plenary hall with 40 seats, HD projector, overhead projector to facilitate and optimise debriefing sessions and cameras to record theoretical classes.
- Debriefing room with 15 seats and HD screen.
- Control room to manage any AV signal inside the complex with the possibility to record and save on device any class or training.
- Sponsor room dedicated to presentations for new biomedical products.
- Technical area dedicated to receptions, catering management, certificate releasing and administrative office.
